Survivor: Hasselbeck Signs For Another Year
Coach Joe Gibbs likes Hasselbeck's knowledge of the game, making him a solid No. 3. He did not play last season, but in 2003 Hasselbeck started five games. He completed 95 passes (177 attempts) for 1,012 yards and five scores. And then there's this from Gibbs regarding the draft, furthering what appears to be a mini-drama. The Washington Post reported that the Redskins were considering trading the pick to Oakland in exchange for corner Philip Buchanon and a second-round pick. This morning, Vice President of Football Operations Vinny Cerrato, in a press release, denied any intention of trading the pick.
That leads to this comment from Gibbs: "Right now we've had no discussions with anyone about trading away the ninth pick (in Saturday's NFL draft)," Gibbs said. "Are we considering any options we are presented with? Yes, we'll consider anything, but no one has presented a compelling scenario."
