Redskins Sign WR Dyson

Kevin Dyson

The Redskins added size to their receiving corps, signing a player involved in one of the NFL's most famous plays. But his size isn't the issue: it's his health and ability.

Washington signed receiver Kevin Dyson today. The 6-foot-2, 212-pound Dyson has played one game the past two seasons. He missed 15 games because of an Achilles' tear suffered in 2003 with Carolina. And San Diego relesed him before the start of last season.

Until 2003, Dyson was a solid, if unspectacular wideout best known for his role in the Music City Miracle playoff game involving Tennessee and Buffalo.

Dyson has started 54 games in seven seasons and has 178 catches and 18 touchdowns. His career high in receptions is 54, a total he's reached twice -- both came in the only seasons in which he's played all 16 games.

If healthy and productive, Dyson could nudge Darnerien McCants off the roster as the No. 5 wideout.
