A shooting that wounded a security guard occured at a party co-hosted by Redskins linebacker LaVar Arrington over the weekend, but Arrington is not considered part of the investigation.

Anne Arundel County, Md., police are investigating the shooting, which happened early Sunday morning at a rented mansion in Gambrills, Md. Arrington turned 27 on June 20.

The shooting occured 100 feet from the house. Police have said they don't think Arrington was involved and was inside during the shooting. The security guard, James Sidney, was in serious but stable condition.

Arrington released a statement through the Redskins: "Over the weekend there was an unfortunate incident where a security guard was injured following a party I hosted in Gambrills, Maryland, to conclude a series of charity events. I had no involvement in the incident, and to my knowledge neither did any of the guests at the party. I feel terrible about the injury to the guard, who was only doing his job, and pray he recovers quickly and fully."
