Barrow, Lott released

The Mike Barrow era is over -- and it never really began.

Washington released the veteran linebacker today, giving him a chance to catch on with another team before training camp. Barrow never played in a game for the Redskins and practiced sparingly -- and not at all after early in the 2004 training camp because of a sprained knee.

Barrow spent most of last season on the active roster, until the Redskins finally realized he would not return and put him on the disabled list. Based on roster moves, it appeared the Redskins didn't think he'd be much of a factor this season either. They drafted or signed a number of linebackers seeking depth.

Barrow also had asked for permission to seek a trade two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, the Redskins waived Andre Lott, who missed most of last season with a knee injury. They signed veteran safety Omar Stoutmire on Friday. Recommended Stories
