Redskins quarterback Mark Brunell participated in some of
Friday’s practice and is expected to play Sunday against San
Francisco.
Brunell strained his calf in practice Thursday, but is
listed as probable on the depth chart. Redskins coach Joe Gibbs said Brunell
will play. And Brunell, who played down the injury Thursday, said he feels
better.
‘’It’s Coach Gibbs’ decision,’’ he said.
Which means, of course, that he’s playing. But there could
be a problem with the weather. Rain is forecast all weekend in the Washington
area, possibly leaving the Redskins with a soggy field Sunday – a potential
problem for a quarterback with any kind of leg injury.
...Gibbs said that kicker Nick Novak would handle all the
kicking duties Sunday. John Hall was listed as probable on the injury report,
but it appears the Redskins would like him to make it through another week of
practice before having him kick in the game.
