Contrary to Reports, Brunell Redoes Deal

Posted Mar 1, 2006

Mark Brunell restructured his contract to help the Redskins with the cap; others are expected to follow suit.

Quarterback Mark Brunell apparently was upset with a newspaper report that said he was ''reluctant'' to renegotiate his contract.

"I have, and always will, try to do what is in the best interest of my team," said Brunell, who agreed on Tuesday to restructuring to terms of his deal. "If I am seen in a negative light for something I have done wrong, so be it. During the course of my career I have always maintained the team above myself; however I do not like when I am written about in the paper and it is incorrect." Coach Joe Gibbs said, "Mark and other team members have worked cooperatively with us in renegotiations, approaching the matter like the veterans and team leaders that they are."
