Chris Clemons Signs Tender

Clemons sacks Ben Roethlisberger

The Redskins get another one back in the fold.

The Redskins announced today that linebacker Chris Clemons has signed the restricted free agent tender that the team offered him last month. The move assured that all of their 2006 restricted free agent players will be returning.

Clemons' progress will be watched very closely as the team progresses through its offseason workouts. He is expected to compete for a starting job at the weak outside linebacker spot that was vacated when the club reached a buyout arrangement with LaVar Arrington.

There were no reports of Clemons visiting with other teams or having any kind of serious contact. The Redskins would have had the option to match any offer the Clemons might have received from another team. As he was an undrafted free agent, they would not have received any compensation had they lost him.
