LAST 5 ON
|
LAST 5 OFF
|
|
Spencer
Folau OT
|
Jim Molinaro OT
|
|
Molinaro hasn’t impressed and has been
injured as well. Some veterans even
question why he was even brought back to training camp this year. Folau has experience and is more versatile,
able to play 4 OL positions. As such
he gets the nod here.

|
Spencer Havner LB
|
Robert McCune LB
|
|
We know for sure that Marcus Washington,
Lemar Marshall, Warrick Holdman, Rocky McIntosh, Jeff Posey and Khary
Campbell are safe. This leaves one
other LB spot up for grabs - a battle between two players - Spencer Havner
and Robert McCune. Havner will make
the team based on his preseason and practice form while McCune has struggled
for consistency and of late has been injured.
|
|
Mike Espy WR
|
Ikechuku Ndukwe G
|
|
This is a battle of who takes the last
offensive spot on the roster. While
most would point to having 9 OL players as a good policy, I think that if a
better player is available you look hard at keeping him. Espy has outshone any young OL on this
team in training camp and the preseason games – both on offense and on ST’s,
and that in my book should put him in line to make the roster. Both could find themselves on the practice
squad if Williams insists on having 9 DL on the final roster.
|
|
Cedric Killings DT / Kedrick Golston
DT
|
Ryan Boschetti DT / Anthony Montgomery
DT
|
|
The performances of Golston and Killings
have played them onto the final roster ahead of Montgomery – who has been
hampered by injury of late - and Boschetti. If a ninth DL player is kept it would be Boschetti. Montgomery – the teams fifth round pick in
2006 – is destined for the practice squad.

|
Vernon Fox S
|
Reed Doughty S
|
|
Williams values players who have NFL experience
and the last few spots on the roster always go to good ST’s players. Recently signed S Vernon Fox has both
these attributes. He was special
teams captain at Detroit last year and led the Lions in ST’s tackles in
2005. This will be enough to get the
last DB spot and put Reed Doughty onto the practice squad.

THE FINAL PRACTICE SQUAD PREDICTION
LB Kevin Simon
DT Anthony Montgomery
OL Kili Lefotu
OL Jasper Harvey
LB Robert McCune
TE Buck Ortega
OL Ikechuku Ndukwe
S Reed Doughty
LB Philippe Gardent (NFL Europe)
All three young developing offensive
linemen make the taxi squad, along with talented LB’s McCune and Simon. Ortega has shown enough in preseason to have
on hand as the next available TE, while rookies Montgomery and Doughty just
need more time to develop under Williams and his staff. This is a VERY talented and promising
practice squad group!
