Injury Report: Springs Still Questionable

Posted Sep 20, 2006

The anxiously-awaited injury report came out today and the news on the team's two injured star players is mixed.

... Corner Shawn Springs (abdomen) tried to practice, but tweaked his groin while doing a drill Wednesday. He backpedaled, then tried to burst forward when he hurt the groin. He's listed as questionable and Gibbs said there's still a chance he'll play Sunday.

... Running back Clinton Portis practiced and is expected to start Sunday. Coach Joe Gibbs said Portis looked good and said if he continues to look that way he'll start. Gibbs' word has been the final one on Portis' playing time the first two games.

...Defensive tackle Joe Salave'a (calf) is listed as questionable. He did not practice Wednesday.

...For Houston: Corner Demarcus Faggins (foot) is out; corner Phillip Buchanon (ankle), center Mike Flanagan (foot) and defensive end Antwan Peek (groin) are questionable. Linebacker Morlon Greenwood (ankle) is probable.
