Daniels Doubtful, Smoot Questionable

Redskins defensive end Phillip Daniels was downgraded to doubtful for Monday night's game at Philadelphia with a foot injury while corner Fred Smoot was downgraded from probable to questionable because of a hamstring injury.

The only good news Washington received today is that safety Pierson Prioleau is now probable with a hamstring injury.

If Daniels can't play, then Demetric Evans would start in his place. The Redskins like Evans' versatility so he can play a similar role to Daniels, who moves inside on third down plays.

As for Smoot, it appeared he would not start anyway this week, provided Shawn Springs was fully healthy. Secondary coach Jerry Gray said on Thursday that Springs would "hopefully start" Monday. David Macklin likely would take Smoot's place.
