Injury report: Four starters did not practice today – Cornelius Griffin
(back), Fred Smoot (hamstring), Marcus Washington (hamstring) and
Santana Moss (heel).
Locker room topic No. 1: The lack of a touchdown catch by any of the
Redskins wideouts. They’ve caught a combined 60 passes and yet remain
the only group in the NFL not to have produced a touchdown. "Every
week we’re hearing this stuff," said Redskins receiver Santana Moss.
"It’s not like you can go out there and say, ‘Let me throw the
receivers the ball a million times. We’ve got to win games that’s the
most important thing…. If you ain’t getting opportunities, you can’t
force it. Of late, the coaches are trying to give us chances. We’ll get
some. It’s gonna come."
Locker room topic No. 2: Brandon Lloyd missing the meeting on Friday,
thereby prompting him to be made inactive. It’s hard to find a lot of
players who support Lloyd and they seem to realize he’s just not a good
teammate. Publicly, they will support him, though even Jason Campbell
said there needs to be a certain level of professionalism.
"When you’re at this level, guys will take it upon themselves to make sure
they’re doing the things they need to do and make sure they’re in the
right place at the right time," Campbell said. "You can talk to a guy
and encourage a guy to make the right decision. I’ll continue to
encourage [Lloyd]."
Joe Gibbs says: "Donovan has been the single player the last four
years that hurt us. They’re a deep-throwing team; he gets out of the
pocket and makes things happen. He’s very hard to get down because he’s
so big. For us, he’s been a lot of problems."
