Hall Re-Signs

The Redskins made DeAngelo Hall their No. 1 target. They got their man.

Washington re-signed Hall to a six-year, $54-million deal, keeping the cornerback out of free agency.

The deal was struck a few minutes before midnight and capped nearly a week of negotiations. The two sides did not start talking until last week at the scouting combine. One NFL source said the Redskins were frustrated with the pace of negotiations and with Hall's primary agent, Alvin Keels.

However, both sides gave a little to get this done. It's a huge amount of money. As another NFL source said, he did not hear any teams talking about Hall at the combine and certainly not for a great deal of money.

But Hall fit in well with Washington and earlier Thursday said that he wanted to return and called it a good fit.

The Redskins are interested in free agent defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth, as are a handful of teams. That could limit what they can do with him and allow him to sign elsewhere. They've spoken with the agent for Chris Canty, who could visit this weekend. But nothing official is set up as of yet.
