USC quarterback Mark Sanchez has a full schedule ahead of him this week as he
meets with representatives of the Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Jets and
Washington Redskins.
According to a source, Sanchez is scheduled to have dinner Sunday night,
March 22 with a Jaguars scout prior to hopping on a plane for an official visit
with the Jets. Then on Monday, he'll spend the bulk of his day with Jets
offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer prior to an offsite workout on
Tuesday. On Wednesday afternoon, March 25, the 6-foot-2, 227-pound quarterback
is scheduled and will have a private workout for the Washington Redskins at USC.

Sanchez isn't expected to still be available when the Jets make their first
pick at No. 17 in the first round, nor when the Redskins make their selection at
No. 13. Of the three teams, the Jaguars have the best shot at nabbing him at No.
8, but even that seems unlikely based on the speculation that he could be the
top pick overall in this year's NFL draft.
But with some draft-day maneuvering, any of the three teams could move up and
put him in position to become their franchise quarterback.
The Jets clearly have the worst quarterback situation of the trio with Kellen Clemens, Brett Ratliff and Erik Ainge on their depth chart. And the Jaguars
could certainly use someone to compete with David Garrard for
the starter's role.
But the biggest surprise is that Washington, who has Jason Campbell as their
starter, is scheduled to evaluate Sanchez.
Campbell just completed the best season out of his four years as a Redskin,
completing 62.3 percent of his throws for 3,245 yards, 13 touchdowns and just
six interceptions during 16 starts. However, he's entering the final year of his
original five-year contract with the Redskins, so the addition of Sanchez would
certainly be a way for the team to prepare for the future while adding a rookie
who could be capable of stepping in as a starter should Campbell falter.
Sanchez, who declared for the NFL Draft a year early following his junior
year, played in 27 games for the Trojans. He completed 65.8 percent of his
throws for 3,207 yards, 34 touchdowns and just ten interceptions.
