The Redskins have signed Jim Haslett as their Defensive Coordinator.

Haslett spent this past season as head coach of the Florida Tuskers of the fledgling United Football League. The Tuskers went unbeaten in the regular season, but were upset by the Las Vegas Locomotives in the UFL title game.

Here is Jim Haslett's coaching experience prior to the Florida Tuskers:

  • University at Buffalo (1988-1990): Assistant Coach

  • Sacramento Surge (1991-1992): Assistant Coach

  • Los Angeles Raiders (1993-1994): Linebackers Coach

  • New Orleans Saints (1995-1996): Linebackers Coach (95), Defensive Coordinator (96)

  • Pittsburgh Steelers (1997-1999): Defensive Coordinator

  • New Orleans Saints (2000-2005): Head Coach, 2000 NFL Coach of the Year

  • St. Louis Rams (2006-2008): Defensive Coordinator (06-07), Interim Head Coach (08)

Jim Haslett is not believed to be the Redskins' first choice for the job as they were more interested in Mike Zimmer who signed a three year extension with the Cincinnati Bengals.
