College:
Samuels ended his celebrated career at Alabama by winning the Outland Trophy as college football’s top lineman after his 1999 senior season. He was also a semifinalist for the Lombardi Award and a First-Team All-American. He was named First-Team All-SEC.
Samuels started 42 straight games (506 snaps), from early in his 1996 freshman season until his last regular-season game as a senior, without yielding a sack. He didn’t allow a QB pressure in 1999 and had 91 knockdown blocks.
As a junior, Samuels was Birmingham News First-Team All-SEC and the coaches named him Second-Team All-SEC, an honor he also got as a sophomore.
He made steady progress as a true freshman and started the last seven games in 1996.
