VIDEO: Alabama players run 40-yard dash

Alabama held its annual Pro Day Wednesday afternoon at the Hank Crisp Indoor Practice Facility. Below, watch several players work through drills in front of NFL scouts, etc.

A broad smile crept across Scott Cochran's face as he looked down at his stopwatch.

"YESSS SIRRR," the strength coach yelled, his voice ringing throughout Alabama's Hank Crisp Indoor Practice Facility during Wednesday's Pro Day.

Nose guard Jesse Williams had just clocked a 4.90 in the 40-yard dash, pretty, pretty good for a man who comes in at 6-foot-3 inches and 325 lbs.

"I felt like I did pretty good," Williams told reporters after the pro day festivities concluded. "I was just trying to get everything going. It's tough. After running those 40s, I was gassed."

Williams, who had previously been nursing a knee injury, said it felt good to run without feeling that pain he played with in the SEC and national championships.

"I mean, anything under five seconds," he said. "It felt like I was moving pretty fast. The hardest part was trying to stop before running into you guys."

The "you guys" in reference were the hordes of NFL brass who came to check out the talent in Tuscaloosa, one of whom was former Crimson Tide star defensive end John Mitchell, who is currently the defensive coordinator for the Pittsburg Steelers.

"Alabama has a lot of good players," Mitchell told BamaMag.com. "If you want an Alabama player, you have to get him early."

Williams is projected as a late first round or early second round draft pick by most analysts.
